Default Crazy problem, check engine light flashes then shutters

I'm a single lady and have been getting a lot of help from friends but they are all out of ideas. Have brought the vehicle, 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 - 6. to two different shops but they didnt know.Found two friends that at least care.
first guy (not friend)changed the cam sensor and replaced hoses and then it stopped cutting off which was good. He charged 180 dollars. but then I could not go faster than 40 with all kinds of codes being outputed. I've had codes P0300, P0353, P0455, P0442. Multiple misfires on Cyl. 1 & 6. Second guy changed the coil pack and spark plugs and there was no change. 3rd guy replaced ECM, no change. If I pull over and shut it off, something clears and it runs OK for a little while then have to shut it off and restart again and again. The company where I got the ECM, sent another one just to make sure. And that didn't fix the problem.

Posted same thing in other thread ..hoping to get more answers here. Even mechanics just scratch their heads as mentioned above. Just throwing parts and money at this problem with no answer in sight.

Hello crazy lady and welcome to CF!

"Shotgunning" of parts can get expensive quickly! The first thing I would do is check the output of the CPS (crankshaft position sensor) to make sure it's functioning correctly. To me, it sounds like one that's about to fail. Maybe not, because they will usually cause it to stall, then start right back up, sometimes after cooling a bit.

Your code P0353 shows a problem with the coil pack. I know it's been changed, but the wiring to it may be bad or have loose connections at the plug. That can be checked by wiggling the plugs at both the coil pack and the PCM (ECU) while its running. Sometimes just a loose fitting pin on a multiple pin connector can cause problems like this.

The whole point I'm trying to make is you've got to find the problem BEFORE replacing any more parts. A lot of mechanics will blame parts without checking wiring connections because a lot of times it IS the part and it takes more time to diagnose the circuit. Bottom line is they make more money replacing parts. A good mechanic that wants your return business will take the time.

I've been told that a FLASHING CEL shows something is wrong that is about to shut off the engine. IDK if that's true or not.

I had a problem with my WJ where it was setting a misfire code on cylinder #1. What it turned out to be was a cracked connector in injector #1 that was loosing connection. Easy fix.

Come back and let us know what happens, it may help others.
