crack in tranny

Default crack in tranny

Ok so I just bought a 97 zj, Im in the middle of putting the tranny back in, I just noticed that there is a chunk missing and crack where thee one of the tranny lines go in the tranny, how should I fix it?

Yep that's what I thought but I don't wanna pull the tranny back out, do you think I should tig or mig weld it, I have both

well you cant mig that. well you could with a spool gun but wouldnt want to on something like that. it needs to be ground out, and tig welded. if you can get the tig torch in there, pull the fitting, get the top ear back down where it belongs, v the crack out and fill it in.

hard to tell from the pics. I would probably think so, but if you can get the tig torch in there, go for it

Might be easier just to pull it out, that way you're not welding upside down in a super tight space, that and you chances of catching something on fire are much slimmer.
