Default Coolant Sensor

Hey guys I got a 96 zj with the 5.2L V8 and lately its been telling me the coolant sensor is bad but my coolant temp is normal. It only tells me every once in awhile and then turns off. Any idea's if it is the sensor? and where can I find it to check it? If you guys can let me know that would be great

There are two different sensors, one for the gauge and one for the ECM. The one for the ECM will set a code, the one for the gauge will not. There may also be a coolant level sensor in the recovery tank on your rig and will light up the VIC when the level is low.

My 2001 was giving me the same reading yet my coolant was full. I replaced the coolant level sensor on the top of the overflow tank but it kept doing the low coolant warning. I think I just left the lead on the coolant level sensor on the overflow unhooked since it ticked me off so much.

Do a search for the low coolant light on the VIC, there is a mod to the VIC to fix the light from staying on even after replacing the sensor.
