I have a clicking sound coming somewhere from the front end of my WJ. It only happens while in motion and is proportionate to the wheel speed. I thought it was my hubs so I replaced both front ones and the nosie remains. I can't find anything in the brakes catching. I have the 4.7L 4WD with Quadradrive and the independent front axles. The front axles were both replaced about a year ago and I first heard the noise (sound like a pen clicking) about 3 or 4 months ago. It even happens in neutral going backwards down a hill. I really don't want to go to the dealership and spend 1k for them to "find" the problem and have not found an TSB's that address the issue. Right now the Jeep is sitting in the grass because I have no idea if it is safe to drive or not and I'm not going to throw parts at it and not solve the issue. As far as I can tell, I cannot hear the noise while braking. What steps should I take to figure out what it is? I have no idea where to start checking for things.

Check the drive shaft or the t case. Mine makes a noise just the same. Thats where all my noises are coming from but it souds like its coming from the axle.

Transfer case was bone dry. 2 qts of Mopar NV 247 fluid and it's magically better!
