I recently bought a 94 grand Cherokee with the 5.2 v8 in it. I was told it needed a cps sensor and for that reason it had a rough idle whenever it would start. But most of the time it wouldn’t start unless I really layed on the gas. I replaced the sensor along with the IAC valve and cleaned out the throttle body. Also threw some new spark plugs in it. Took a look inside the carb and it’s got some heavy carbon buildup.

When I can get it to idle and rev it up it’s got some pops and burbles. When I get it to idle and take it driving it will drive for a little and then stall out at stops. It’s not overheating and the air filter is brand new.

i just can’t seem to track down what is causing these issues, and I’m hoping someone might know the answer! Please help if you can! Thank you 🙏

 

If you are relying in something you were told you might be in over your head, but, we all started somewhere.
” I was told” it needed a CPS? Would this be the crank sensor or the cam sensor that you replaced? Either one can cause things like you described so I’d just change both since it’s a 94. Only genuine Mopar will work.
