A/C Problem

A/C Problem
A/C has stopped working and the clutch on the compressor does not kick in. at times it will kick in but like it slips and then eventually it will runn at normal speed. When i turn the vehicle off the compressor clutch will not kick in again. anyone know what might be wron?
