Ol' Blue,
I would appreciate the info on replacing the evaporator coil on my 2000 XJ.

Any suggestions on parts and what to stay away from?

Thanks,

John

After a long, hot drive across the deserts of Utah, I have caved and decided to replace my evaporator core. I have searched in vain for adequate instructions on how to remove the dashboard. Is there a detailed how-to out there for a 98 cherokee so I don't accidentally ruin something? I feel like I'm going into this pretty blindly.

Ol Blue,
Could you send me the instruction process you have for replacing an evaporator coil. I have a 200 Jeep Cherokee yj with the 4.0 liter. That would be awesome if you can. Thanks!

(I'm assuming you have a regular '01 Cherokee, you didn't specify...)

Would you recommend replacing the heater coil as well while I'm in there? It's working ok but I figure with 160k and 12 years its worth it.
Any suggestions on parts and what to stay away from?
Love the site!
Welcome to CF. Considering the work involved, I'd also replace the heater core at the same time as a safety measure. Some suggest replacing the receiver dryer when replacing the evap coil. It's not very expensive, and traps crap/crud that might get in the system.
I usually use Chrysler/Jeep parts because you know they'll fit and have a good warranty. Some say the large chains have good quality parts as well.
I'll send you a Private Message with the repair info.

Ol' Blue, can you shoot me the same? Much appreciated. I've been lurking for some time and picking up a few tips here and there. Great forum!
Welcome to CF. Congrats on the purchase of her first Jeep.

I'll send you a PM.
Yes you can remove the seats and swing the dash out on the passenger side as stated.
