Default 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport Evaporator Leaking :-(

Hi,
I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport that needs the evaporator replaced ... Surprise !!! After reading many posts, I've decided it would be best to drop the steering column. (else risk ruining the dash) Advice on removing seats and any other hints would be greatly appreciated !
Thanks in advance,
Dan

the job is done it took me 12 hours i did the work and my wife baged and taged there was one screw on the back of the dash almost in the center that was very hard it took me almost a full hour to find it i had no idea what it was hung up on i thought it was just a clip of some sort but it was a screw holding a wire harnes once i found it it still took me 20 min to get the screw off. since i saved over a 1000 dollors doing it myself i bought a r-134a manifold gauge and hose set and vacuum pump. does any body no what pressure i fill my r-134a up to. btw that screw in the back of the dash i threw it away ha ha ha

I believe the system holds 20 ounces of R134a. It's best to charge by weight. Then to try and ballpark it by pressures. Account for 3 ounces of oil that was in the accumulator and about 1/3 oz in the evap. If you didn't flush the system. If you flushed the system then you'll have to balance the the oil capacity to about 5.5 ounces.

The pressures are relative to ambient temps 2" in front of the condenser multiplied by 2.3 for R134a.

It's easier to charge by weight. Less chance of error.

I don't have '98 year specific info but I'll send you '97 & '99 in a Private Message and you can pick the one that is most applicable.

Check with RockAuto. I've ordered most of my part from them and priced reasonable. www.rockauto.com

Default instructions please

I have a 98 grand cherokee with a small evap leak. Can I get the info on the 97 and 99 since you lack the 98? Thank you very much. I have the haynes manual but figured yours might be more detailed.

For the ZJ/WJ right now the only info I have on this lap top is the Haynes pages. I can't access my ZJ files. Sorry.
