Before I had the original work done my AC was very cold. The evaporator core developed a leak which I dealt with for a few months, I would fill it with a can of freon when it would start blowing cool, maybe every week or two and when I did a refill it blew very cold, finally the leak got bad and I had the evaporator core replace, the mechanic replaced the heater core while the dash was apart. He showed me the evaporator core and it was black. With that said my a/c was cool at best and I could smell the outside air coming in, he said it was due to the insulation on the vent box falling apart. This was about two years ago. Then a few months ago my compressor clutch burned out so I got that replaces and hoped maybe the ac would be colder but it was the same, both times the same mechanic did the work. In gonna take it to Firestone and have them test the system, they have a special for $10 , Im thinking maybe its not changed properly and maybe that led to the compressor going. One thing we can all agree on and that jeeps did a horrible job with this setup, some vents not blowing that much, crappy insulation that deteriorates etc

 

testing? it dont work . , replace the dryer and expansion valve,pump it out, see if it leaks, and then add refrig. I would NOT trust Firestone sorry. Bad experiences there, its basically a chain store. There are quite reputable places around to call and talk it over with first.
