Default Brakes actung stupid

So I have the jeep grand with the 318 and this happens most mornings, my jeep will slam on the brakes even though I might just be normally pressing on the brakes, and it feels like I slammed on the brakes, it only does this when it's just been turned on, once I've driven it for about 5mins and it starts to get up to temp it doesn't do it anymore, not sure what this could be, so any help is greatly appreciated

Sounds like it might be oxidation on the rotors/drums, it seems to happen more often on cool and damp days. After the vehicle sits and brakes cool then condensation can collect on the rotors/drums and cause oxidation. You may not even be able to see it but enough could be on there to cause the brakes to grab for the first couple of stops.

IDK where you live, but wet climates are noted for this. If you look at brake rotors, even newer cars, after sitting through a rainstorm, they will be rusted. You can go to stainless rotors, but that can get expensive! Try using ceramic brake pads. They may clean off the rust without grabbing. You can try dragging the brakes lightly when first starting off. It may help.

more than likely you have a parking brake cable that is hanging up.

ALL vehicles do it. Some are just more touchy than others. Even drum brakes will do it if you let them sit for a long time.

Ditto the parking brake cable. OR a caliper hanging up.
