a cage is meant to save your life in case of a roll. why would you jeopardize that with a bolt on cage? do it right the first time!

Cages are for function, not to look cool (all though in most cases they do look cool). I've never seen a ZJ with an exo-caged, I wonder how it would look.

It would look, SAVAGE!

A 98 with 5.9L running 33's and an exo-cage... I'm not sure the world is ready for something like that.

I could find the magazine cover with the zj exo on it, but whats wrong with if it would be bolt on? Wouldnt it be just as safe if welded or whatever the other option would be? If bolted with some fat bolts to the frame wouldnt it be just as safe?

I've had the opportunity to wheel with a ZJ with an exo cage, however his wasn't bolt on. I don't know what the rage is lately with the bolt on cages, but you'd never catch me truly relying on that. Probably the influx of noob's that just want them to look kewl at high school. You're just inviting those "fat bolts" to rip through the thin metal "frame" you speak of.

Fully plate the unibody, and weld the cage to the plating. That with some solid crossmembers and you'd have about as solid as a setup as you could find...

I suppose, i just feel like if the frame is strong enough to be hoisted up ten feet in the air without bend on the frame, then it should be firm enough to hold multiple bolts with larger diameters, with the weight of the body on the cage upside down, plus i just want it to be removable, not for show, when im not going on tougher weekend trails

Have you looked at the bolt on cages? They're going to be alot of work to install and uninstall. Applying force to a wide area of the frame is much different that applying several bolts to very thin metal of the uni-body.
