Hey all, just sold my Honda CBR and bought a 1996 GC, Limited, V8 4x4. my Serp belt keeps riding forward on the crank pulley, and ripping. I've gone through 4 belts on the 5th now, in 4 weeks. anyone had this problem before? The belt rides true over all the pulleys, but coming off the water pump, you can see it hits the crank pulley at an angle, causing the leading edge to rup against the ridge on the pulley, ripping the front ridge off the belt. not sure if the water pump (put new one on a year ago) is messed up, or if the bearings or dampener on the crank puller are bad, and the mech i took the truck to doesn't know why it keeps ripping, and he didn't see anything wrong with the pulleys that would cause them to rip the belt. anyone had this problem before? and ideas what might be wrong? and there is no wobble or play in any of the pulleys, just the belt hitting the crank pulley off the WP is coming at an angle.... help!

Had a simuliar problem on a 96 GMC Van 350 . Tensioner wore out and allowed the belt to slip and move on the pulleys.

The outer ring on the harmonic balancer may have shifted, take a close look at the balancer and see if the rubber looks cracked or is coming out from between the two rings.

I think its my water pump was put in wrong, I sprayed some wd-40 on the wp pulley and so far its doing fine. but my HB has no play at all when i take the belt off and my tensioner is still tight. but that is one thing ill keep an eye on for sure
