Default battery clamps

hi i wanted to change both the negative and positive clamps but im not sure how to get the wires out of the clamps,i cant cut the positive side b/c the cables are too short i already did the negative it had enough slack to just cut and strip and put the new clamp on .so how do you get it out without cutting the cables

The only way is to cut and attach the new clamp. The wire is not clamped on to the clamp, so you have to cut! you will have to splice new wire onto the existing wire which is not a good idea either!

i was thinking of trying to cut the old clamp with a saw or heating it up to melt it alittle and just pull it out

You can melt the clamp off (the wiring is moulded into the clamp,) but that lead will also wick up into the cable and make it more rigid.

A hacksaw to cut it flush with the back of the clamp is the best bet - you'll lose about an inch of length that way.

spend a few more bucks and get a new cable... if its to short. and you go bouncing around you might end up with issues... a new cable with the end on it is not that much... 4.99 or so.. 6.99
