Bad fuel sender and MPGs reliability
anyone know roughly what a full tank of gas gets on a 4 liter 98 grand Cherokee? Has a bad sender so don't know how reliable it is below half tank? should it go 250-300 no problem? I

I drove a 61 Chevy for 3 years without a fuel gauge. All I did was fill it up every 200 miles. I had one of those plastic number wheels on my dash that I set every time I put fuel in it. You can try 300, but I'd prefer to have a bigger buffer.
Fill it up at 1/2 and check the gallons. Look at your model to see what the tank's capacity is, then you can figure out what you can drive between fillups.
Just a point of history. Originally, car manufacturer's decided to limit the tank's capacity to 250 miles to give driver's a break from driving on long trips. That was back in the 50's, but now anything goes. My 87 Chevy truck had dual 16 gallon tanks.
