Default AW4 2WD 4WD?

I'm replacing the juice in my '93 GC Laredo 4.0L Transfer case. While I was searching for what flavor to use.. I found it (ATF Dexron II) While searching, I ran across several sites that said:
"The AW4 may be identified as a model #30-43LE for 2wd versions and as a model #40-30LE for 4wd versions" This confuses me. I 'know' my tranny is an Aisin AW4 Model #30-43LE (I copied it from my ID tag) and I know the Transfer Case is the 231J (so the tag says). I'm thinking it's just.. well, I don't know. I thought this Jeep was all original equipment, but the PO could have switched something? Am I missing something? Do I have a tranny for a 2wd? Is the 40-30LE model a different tranny, or just..

Don't know for sure, but I wouldnt always trust a terminolgy thing like that, unless you know for sure. They are both AW4's with the obvious difference in tail shafts and rear housings. They are not interchangeable unless at one time it the past the trans was completely disassembled and a 2wd trans case was used/swapped for an unknown reason.
