Default auto box limp mode

PLEASE CAN ANYBODY ADVISE ME.
I have a 54 (2004) jeep grand Cherokee 2.7 crd and we love it but it keeps going in to limp mode and the engine light comes on it has had well over £4000 spent on it.It has had a recon box gear box ecu gear shift mechanism when its plugged in to diagnostics it says temp sensor is faulty and it usually goes in to limp mode as the weather cools down below 7 degrees so it been sat on the drive a while again as it is in limp mode again at the moment i can take it to jeep they just plug in erase the code charge me £150 and its fine again until the temp drops again so its like a vicious circle and nobody seems to be able to help me.
any ideas would be welcome.
Regards Grace

Have you thought about replacing that sensor? It shouldn't be too hard, and wouldn't that solve your issue? and shouldn't the dealership suggest this as well? Just an assumption, I am not to sure otherwise except replace what is faulty

The dealer is doing you no favors by just clearing the code. That is not the way to fix a problem. And the fact they're charging you every time is not right either. Have a talk with the service manager and voice your concerns and tell him to make it right.

From what I can gather, Jeeps don't have a lot of support in the UK or Australia. 150 Pounds seems extreme to charge just to clear the codes! To make it worse, I think your engine is Italian.

I believe the engine is a Mercedes engine being a woman I don't know too much about things like this I just feel as I am being ripped off and taken advantage of.

Nobody seems to know where the sensor is or how to do it. As for getting parts it's like finding rocking horse poop.

Okay, this might help. There is a Englishman who posted several days ago who was looking for a manual for a 3.1 turbo diesel. In his post he said he might be able to find one for the 2.7 crd. His user name is Shawto. His post is on page 5 today. You can Private Message him and see if he has any answers. I didn't read his post enough today it see if he was the one who needed to replace the head gasket or not, but if so, he must know enough about the diesels to at least help you. IDK if you are in the UK or not, but he is. That's one of the reasons putting your location in your signature helps us.

Unfortunately, The US EPA doesn't let us play with the jeep diesels at all. They actually released one this year, but IDK anything about it.

In order to send a PM, just click on his username and a tile will pop up. Then click on send private message.

I hope this helps.
