ATF level varies -
1995 Grand Cherokee, 184K miles
After sitting overnight the level looks too high. After starting and moving a few feed in R and D it goes to min level but then comes back up into the OK range. Checked it while in R and the stick was dry?
I did experience a loss of power at the base of my driveway a few weeks ago (nose up in reverse) and suspect the level had gotten low enough for the pump to suck air ... though it looked Ok when checked and drove just fine otherwise. I have added 3 pints of ATF since then.
I suspect there is "drain down" overnight and there is some foaming involved (bubbles on the stick) but not sure how to proceed. Add a few more pints?

Check the transmission fluid level while idling in neutral and on level ground. If it's in the crosshatch area on the stick you're ok.
