Default ATE or Akebono calipers?

I have a 2000 GCL I need to replace the rotors and pads on both axels . I see the pad are sold to fit either ATE or Akebono calipers - . How do I tell which one I have? Is this for the front only or does it also apply to the rear calipers. Any suggestions as to the best replacement rotors for a reasoable cost. The OEM's are junk. I assume the rotors are universal for both ATE and Akebono calipers.
Thanks Mike

This is the right place but I don't have an answer for you. Might call the dealer and ask them how you tell..

Thanks much,
I was not aware there was a differance till I started to order the pads and all the parts sites list both ATE and Akebono calipers. The Haynes manual does not mention this at all. I guess i''ll have to pick them up at a Auot Zone or Advance as I sure don't want to order them off a web site and get the wrong ones.
Thanks
Mike

My son just changed his brakes on his 99 GC. The stock front calipers are single piston units that are black in color (1999-2002) These were replaced in May of 2002 with the Akebono calipers, which are two piston and silver in color. I guess the reason for changing was a rotor warping issue. BTW - he bought after marker slotted and cross drilled rotors for front and back for around $150 on e-bay. Seem to work well. Hope this helps
