My 98 Jeep GC 4.0 is making a weird whinning noise when jeep is in park , and you give it gas. it also does this when im moving and give it gas. Could this be a bad water pump.

If your looking for guesses, I'd say power steering pump or a belt idler. You can release the tension on the belt and try moving the fan blades front to back at the tips to check the water pump.

Well im trying to figure it out, i did some searching and saw people say possible water pump, i recently changed the belt and checked the pulleys , only one i saw had a tad play in was the power sterring, im trying to eliminate any drive train issues, because i use to think it was something with that , its like a whirling noise, doesnt sound anything like a squeaky fan belt. Its hard to describe it , as im sure its hard to diagnoise over the internet. it use to make the noise when i decelerated and now its doin it on accelerate and decelerate , and now if i start the jeep cold and touch the gas its doing it when i rev it up in park. Does any of the drivetrain move when in park . dont know if this is related but now the jeep is goin into high idle like if i touched the gas, i recently changed the TPS.
