Default Another 98GC limited heater issue

Sorry you all, but my 98 GC limited has started to act up on blowing cold air then hot then back to cold air. Its the middle of winter and hopefully I wont have to take this dash apart like the 99 or newer GC's. Is there a quick fix or what ?

limited zj's can have the blend door issue as well, ask me how i know....however if your still getting heat sometimes i doubt thats the problem. could be the heater core or if the temp gauge is not reaching proper temp. t-stat maybe,is your coolant level ok?

Seed and Drakan, I had checked my fluid and its good. No air in the lines and I have heard my heater door do some swinging and shutting. I will check into the heater being plugged.

If it is the blend door , what will it take to fix my 98 ?

if it is your blend door it will require tearing your dash apart and replacing the actuator for the flapper door....they may make the heater treater fix for the zj tho,i would look into that....but i'm not saying it's def your blends that are the problem

Have you noticed if your ZJ heats up all the way? May seem dumb but it could be a t-stat. The exploder has a stuck open t-stat and NEVER heats up, hints no heater. Also check and see if your heater core is coated in nasty stuff. Sometimes when they are covered in stuff they don't transfer the heat normally.

I installed a new waterpump a month ago and new T-stat. It reaches up to the 200 mark but not quit the 210. its heating up good right now but that can change anyday. lol

can i view the heater core without yanking it ?

Seed, I found the website for heater treater and did a diagnostic check and my GC came up with 2 zero's. No codes for a jacked up heater system.

Would the heater core being plugged up give me heat some times but not other times ?

Not usually. If its plugged either you get some heat or none at all. Its usually not intermittent. I'm not quite sure where the heater core is but I would look either under your dash or near the Evap. case. Sometimes you can see em sometimes you can't. If it's in the Evap. case it might be that the case has gunk build-up. That's an easy compressed air fix.
