Ok I have a 97 GC 4.0 and I 2 weeks ago put a new alternator in as I was driving amp gauge drop all the way down and drove it like that for two days untill while driving it started to die. New ALT in ran great for a week till last Sun went to go to movies and batts stone dead no interior lights nothing got a jump started ran fine drove 20 miles to movies and back fine put a new battery in it next day and all back to normal well on the way back tonight the amps dropped all the way down again to below 9 on the gauge and I drove it 5 miles home. I shut it off and start it back up and the amp gauge goes back to 14.. I am going to replace the POS batt cable tomorrow as that one is all beat up hoping that is it, anyone else have any ideas... and the night this happens I also blow a hole in the top radiator hose whats the chance of that...Thanks in advance for any help

 

sounds like a bad new alternator, happens alot, it shouldnt, but it does.

 

If your battery is shot you'll have these type of problems.

 

I'm thinking bad ground, possibly thge ain grd itself.rad blow caysed bad connection-chec bloc grounds,maybe in alt. area
