All GC Dana 44A brakes the same?

Default All GC Dana 44A brakes the same?

My buddy has a Frankenstein YJ, and we need to replace the rear brakes. It has a Dana 44A (aka 44HD), and was told by the po that it came from a GC.

What years did the GC have a 44A?

Do all 44A housings from GC's use the same brakes?

IIRC, most ZJs with a V8 used the D44a and it was continued into the WJ with a new housing. The best thing to do is take the old pads to a parts shop and compare them with ones for a mid-90s ZJ V8. If the shoe fits, wear it! Start with a 97 because my ZJ 4.0 had rear discs.
