Ok yesterday I started my jeep after work and the air bag light on my dash lit up and wouldn't go off. I figured glitch and it would not be on in the morning when I left for work. Wrong its still on! What should I look at to repair/ replace on this? Its a 02 4.0 Grand Cherokee Laredo

I've been thru this also. Turns out my clockspring in the steering wheel had broken a wire. I don't remember how much it cost me for the dealer to repair it, but the part is $300! Yes, that's what I said! I think the total bill was something like $460 or so. They told me without that wire, the airbag wouldn't deploy in an accident. Mopar is the only place you can get that part, but a body shop can install it.
You need a special scan tool to read the airbag module. Supposedly.

Well this jeep hasn't cost me much so far so I hope one of the national chains has a code reader that will work. I'll go after work and see Thanks for the ideas. That's why I like this sight.
