ABS light on?

ABS light on?
My ABS light started going on and off last summer and by this fall started to say on. Brakes seem to work fine and they look like they still have pleny of pad left. Is this really a big deal or does it indicate my brakes may be needing replaced? It would be nice if it was working correctly but hasn't seemed to cause me any problems braking.
Would this be an expensive fix just to have the convenience of it working?

You need a scanner to check the codes to see what the problem is. It could be as simple as the diode in the wiring harness, a wheel sensor, a broken wire, or the ABS pump which is expensive to have replaced. Your ZJ is using regular power brakes now which isn't an issue except it will skid because the ABS is inactive.

When the light is "On" it means that the ABS system is de-activated. ABS is a functional part of the Brake system but it is in no way a physical part of the braking system(also know as Service Brake). When you get the ABS code read you will be able to repair it because the code will tell you where to look.
