99 Grand Cherokee engine swap
I have a 99 Grand Cherokee with a wrist pin knock (still running). I have a chance to pick up a 97 Cherokee with a good engine for parts. I know there is an interchange issue about mounting engine & accessories between some years. Any assistance as far as do I have to change heads etc to make it work would be appreciated (I know all sensors will be transfered from 99 to 97 engine)

Seriously man, you need to stop responding to WJ engine swap posts. Your consistently putting out bad info..
OP, do a search here on "clean slate block" and you'll see the XJ/YJ/ZJ engine block will not bolt into a WJ unless you can fabricate new engine mounts.

So 99 is the first year of the clean slate 4.0? I wasn't sure if was a mid year change or not, like the switch to the COP ignition system in the XJ.
