I have a chance to buy a 1999 Grand cherokee laredo for $1200.00 with a blown 4.0 motor The jeep is super clean with a lot of new parts. My question, does a replacement 4.0 have to be year specific? Or will most jeep 4.0 motors work? Any imput would be most helpfull. Thanks

 

I would say that most engines will work. May be you need to change some parts over from the original. Like manifolds and some sensors. Sounds like a great deal if its super clean. I would grab that, find an engine. Even paying top buck for an engine you will be into a very nice vehicle for less then 3000. that is of course if you can do the work and such to make it happen. Wish I could find deals like that.
