Default 99 GC, lost all but 1&2nd

Have the TCC code.

It's a 2wd, and has 300k on the clock. The solenoids aren't cheap, but cheaper than a rebuild, so I'd rather poke around a little first.

Any pointers on where to start?

I have been googling, and there seems to be little consensus. Fluid level is fine, battery terminals are freshly cleaned. Voltage is where it should be.

As always, any and all input is appreciated.

UpDATE!

I fixed it!

dropped the pan, and removed the filter. Right above that, there is a guard that has two of the same Torx screws that held on the filter. That same place also has 3x 7/16" bolts holding on the guard. One more 7/16" bolt holds the governor body to the transmission.

Three short torx screws(parallel to the ground) hold the shift solenoid assembly to the valve body.

Amazon had the cheapest price for the components. I thought it foolish to spend a ton of money on a shift box with a confirmed 300k on the clock.

the $120 or so I spent on this made it shift like it did when I bought it. Utterly amazing, stupid simple, and well within reach of anyone who can change an alternator.

I am my daughter's hero tonight!

I think you have gotten great service out of that jeep! how is the compression in the motor? the rest of the vehicle? the reason I ask is if overall its in good shape I would spend the money and rebuild the tranny and get another 300K out of it.
