99 4.7 rough running
Hey all my 99 WJ 4.7 is running rough in my opinion need some ideas on it. Here's the back story...
I just recently moved from costal GA to central TX, towed a small 4x8 enclosed with a washer and dryer and the family's suitcases the jeep ran famously. During the trip rolled over 200k about halfway thru the trip noticed the smell of burning oil coming thru the vents. Now I know the jeep is burning a slight bit of oil I've already posted about it I believe it's valve stem seals but that's a complete different thread anyhoo back to this so I investigated and discovered the valve covers were leaking not gushing but a decent leak onto the exhaust manifolds. So I brushed it off kept my oil level in check and continued the trip. Got to TX and I removed the valve covers and replaced the gaskets oil leak fixed while under the hood replaced the crankcase breathers and PVC valve (I broke one of the breathers removing the left valve cover) also noticed a power steering leak on the return line to the reservoir. Fixed that aswell no more leaks. Fired it up in the drive way let it idle for a while as I watched the valve covers for leaks and noticed that it seemed to chug a little like an old Chevy 350 does, didn't think to much of it but in the back of my mind couldn't remember it "chugging" took it for a drive city streets and highway and yes it does run rough. Before I worked on it it idled smooth and drove smooth now it almost seems like it's miss firing but I'm pretty sure it's running on all 8 the level of vibration or chugging increases with throttle increase unless you really get into it it runs smooth then. Anyone got any ideas on what could be causing this. Yes I removed all the vacuum lines and wire harnesses on both sides to access the valve covers and was very careful to put them all back proper I know it's all hooked up right I just don't know where to start on this I plan to do a tune up on it in the near future when money permits I can't remember the last time it's had one (I know bad jeep owner) as always any help, advice, pointers are always welcome and appreciated

Hey guys disregard when I went back in for another inspection to ensure everything was hooked up right I found the third back on the right side fuel injector was not plugged in so I kinda inserted my foot in my mouth when I said yes it's all hooked up right... So plugged it in and bam motor is running smooth again hey on another note anyone got any good advice on removing said foot from mouth??? Gotta love oversights

Old fart with a wrench
At least you were honest enough to admit your mistake. Ask me about the time I wondered why my truck wouldn't start when I had the distributor rotor in my hand. DUH!
