98 jeep grand cherokee tranny fluid
I have a 98 grand cherokee 4.0 rear wheel drive and I was wondering what type of tranny fluid to use. I bought havoline md-3 atf cuz it was the only fluid I could find around here. Can I use it?

Jeep specifies ATF+4 which supersedes ATF PLUS, ATF+2, and ATF+3. MD 3 is for vehicles that take DEXTRON-MERCON like GM and Ford and others. The AW4 in Cherokees takes Dex-Merc, but the 42re takes ATF+4.
The biggest feature of ATF+4 is a 100,000 mile change interval. ATF+3 was recommended to be changed at 35,000.
In my opinion, don't use MD 3. You may find the clutches will start chattering.
