Default 98 grand won't shift out of 1st

About 30 minutes into my comute home she stopped shifting out of 1st. Sitting here in a parking lot waiting for it to cool down. Writing on my phone so sorry for brevity.

There is fluid in the tranny. Its a 6 cyl.

Based on other posts I'm wondering if its the TPS.

I see the throttle body. Where is the TPS?

What tools will I need to put a new one in?

Sorry for the dumb questions.

Welcome to CF. The TPS is on the rear of the throttle body, as shown in the image below. It tells how to check it too.

The TPS is the black plastic "sensor" facing the firewall.. not the circular one closest to pass side fender... That would be the IAC.

You'll need a torx driver/bit etc. Dont recall the size but they typically have an assortment at most parts stores.

Or ask for TPS at parts store and match it up.

Ok, got home or rather to the auto parts store. Obd says speed sensor circuit malfunction.

Guy here says trans output speed sensor.

What say you?

Now I'm actually home with a computer. First - thanks for the immediate help - you guys are the best.

I bought the transmission output speed sensor. It was $20 vs $55 for the TPS. I guess I'm going to bet that the OBD was correct in its diagnostic.

Default Seems it was the output speed sensor

I replaced it and took it for a test drive. Its working well.

I'm a little nervous because it seems too easy.
