Default 98 grand cherokee whipers won't turn off

The windshield wipers on my 98 gc stay on no matter if the switch is on or not. They speed up in hi. I pulled the intermittent relay under hood and they stop and work in hi and low switch positions And stop in off and all int. Positions. I am sure it the switch but am hoping someone can give me an idea of something to check before I pull the steering wheel and change the switch.
Thanks

I believe somewhere in that system, there is a "parking" switch that turns off the wipers in the full down position. It probably isn't functioning. On some vehicles, it's mounted on the motor gearbox.

On my '97, the multifunction switch was mounted on the side of the column with 2 screws. You don't have to pull the steering wheel.
