98 5.9 Liter. Leaking trans fluid... Time for a rebuild?
First off I have to say that I LOVE this jeep. It has been Great. Never let me down.
About two years ago it had a slight leak of trans fluid. It leaked from between the transmission and the transfer case. Now the leak has become worse.
Last time I checked they put an upgraded transmission in this model. The trans seems to shift fine and the only time I've ever had an issue was when I forgot to add fluid.
So now I need to get this fixed. My question is should I have the transmission rebuild while I'm having this repair done? The 5.9 has about 115k on it. How much more would a rebuild cost? Do you think I should have it rebuilt?

Around here a rebuild cost about $800 if you bring the tranny in, more if the shop has to pull it.
Sounds lile you need a new output shaft seal. I'd get out the service manual and D.I.Y.
