my 97 grand Cherokee limited/Orvis has a short! went to start it and it was stone cold dead. Hooked up battery charger and it kicked the heater blower to high. without even touching the key! so unhooked battery and charged overnight, then tried again, same plus flashers flashing and horn blaring like panic alarm. pulled heater fuse and it would start and run but the data center display flashes on and off, but it will run! haven't tried driving it anywhere yet. Any ideas?

 

sounds like the alarm got activated by opening the door with it set. try first turning the key in the driver door to locked, then unlocked. sometimes the switch itself goes bad so try the passenger front door it that doesnt work or lock and unlock with the fob.
