Exclamation 1999 electrical problems

I'm having a weird symptom with my 1999 jeep grand cherokee laredo 4.0. The fuel, water temp, oil pressure and voltage gauges all work in the run position as long as jeep is not running. After you start jeep the tach works for about 3 seconds and then drops to 0 and then the fuel, water, oil pressure and voltage gauges drop to 0 and no longer work. If you shut off jeep and just turn key to run position again without starting, the 4 smaller gauges work fine and will stay that way until you start jeep again. Have only swapped battery for a known good one as far as troubleshooting goes.

Hm. Thats a good one, let me think about it...grounds come to mind, connections everywhere, dashboard connections, headlight or multi switch, the ignition key switch itself,, and possibly the body control module. If you have a fsm take a look there too.

Ok so the fsm for a 98 zj talks about how to troubleshoot this, rather extensively. Says check fuses if more than one gauge isn't working. It's all in section 8 on page 8E-10.
