97 - Grand Cherokee - Sunroof - Weatherstripping
My neighbor has a 97 Grand Cherokee practically in mint condition, but one day she rolled her sunroof back, and upon bringing it forward, the seam split apart at the back and has since become warped and unusable.
She has went to multiple shops that wont touch it, nor have the weather stripping. Everytime she goes to the car wash, she has to put duct tape over the whole sunroof, and has become quite the nuisance.
Everything works mechanically and electronically, except I need to know where to find a new weather stripping seal for it.
The dealer would only sell the stripping with the glass for some reason at $700. A steep cost for a rubber component...
Since this community specializes in these vehicles, does anyone know of a place I can get her some weatherstripping so I can fix her sunroof? Would be a shame to see a well taken vehicle become messed up because of snow/rain leaking in.
She's helping me by letting me keep my third gen camaro in her garage, and would like it if I can help her out.
Thanks

I have a 97 also and it has sunroof problems with the motor. In discovering that I found that the glass is held on the frame with 6 nuts. So I would suggest looking at the junk yards.

I adjusted my sunroof to fit as tight and flush as I could in the opening, and then I sealed it up with some black RTV and removed power to the motor. That sucker ain't gonna open again. I hate sunroofs.
