97 GC Variety of electrical problem
Hey all-
Here's a problem where to start. I bought a 97 GC 4.0 about a month ago and have been having some unusual electrical problems that I thought maybe someone may know about. I first noticed the issues when I came out to the car after leaving it overnight, and it wouldn't start. I jumped it, and after an efforted start got it going. This has happened 4 times since then. I should also note that I shut everything off after I parked it. I have also found that at random times, the abs and airbag lights will stay illuminated, the lights will stay on after I have shut off and locked the car (if on auto lights) and just today I found that the air blower for the cabin was running before I even put in the keys when I jumped it this morning. I also found that after I stopped it and removed the keys, the air blower continued until I turned the **** to the off position. The start of it is also quite labored, requiring at least two good cranks to fire. Im looking for suggestions on where to start hammering down problems, as it seems like there are too many to start. I'm hoping that a few of them are related. Any suggestions?

Welcome to CF.
1. Sounds like you may have a shorted wire in the harness from the ignition switch in or under the column. Look under the dash at the base of the steering column for any melted wires.
2. How old is the battery? Check and clean the connections for the cables.
