97 Cherokee Vent Issue?
O.K. so i have done some research on my newly purchased Jeep. It is a 97 Cherokee Laredo/TSI. My First question is what the H*ll is TSI? i can't really find anything on it. I am coming from all fords this would be the first vehicle i have owned for my self that isn't a ford. Next i was testing to see if i could get the A/C working today since by the end of the week its going to be around 105 degree's and when i had the air on full blast on the setting for the front face vents only. no air was coming out of them? i then change the setting to the other ones and the feet, dash work but nothing out of the main vents?? So i thought i would look in to seeing if there is a cabin filter but as far as i know they didn't come with them in that year? any ideas or what i could check for? i have no idea on this one and it was too hot out to mess around with it too much so i figured i would as first before i rip the whole inside apart.. Thanks

Is this a Grand Cherokee (ZJ), or a classic Cherokee (XJ)? You have lost the vacuum source to the mode selector. On the XJ there is a vacuum ball behind the front bumper on the right side, look and see if it is smashed or if the vacuum hoses are off of the ball. The ZJ has kind of the same thing except the vacuum resevior is part of the battery try.

New issue with the vents, after doing some work to the vehicle. I went to test the vents and now air only comes out of the defrost and the selector doesn't feel like it has any resistance turning from each selector? I checked vacuum lines and replaced a couple but still nothing? The air is either on or off coming from defroster only, where can I look for this vacuum ball, I followed the lines under the battery and everything looks good?? Please help again lol

About the vac ball question, they dont have a ball, the vac storage unit it one piece doubling as the battery tray. If its unhooked, you wont have cruise either
