I have an intermittent sputter that only occurs when I restart the motor while it's still warm never when its cold. Basically it starts fine, I put it in gear, go a short distance like maybe a few hundred yards holding a steady throttle and the thing just sort of starts to lose power and sputter a bit. If I let off the gas and tap the pedal it clears right up and it goes on it's merry way. No codes are present. Other than this issue she runs like a champ.
I've seen many folks talk about cleaning the TPS and thought maybe cleaning it might help. So I took it off but damn if I can see a way to clean it, it's just a plastic block that bolts onto the back of the TB with no parts to "clean". Am I missing something here?

You can't clean it, you can clean the connections. I doubt it's the TPS, it would act up all the time and at a specific position. I would look at the fuel pressure and ignition system.
Id clean the IAC if you havent already. They get full of carbon and dont work properly.

Hmm, that I haven't done, I'll give it a go next day off work. Wasn't sure how much that played a part in the grand scheme when the engine is under load which is the only time it malfunctions (after restarting while warm).Originally Posted by Thexjfiles

Fuel pressure checks ok even during a malfunction, about 48psi. FSM calls for 49psi ±5psiOriginally Posted by Bustedback

i faced similar situation on my KJ, throttle position sensor was the reason for problems. i replaced it, no sputtering no stalling so far after warm up ( it acted like there is a broken o2 sensor sometimes)
i realized that when sensor gets warm, problems arised, i replaced my crank sensor no help. there was no codes either. we checked the idle control valve with chrysler terminal it was ok.
i hope this helps.

i've cleaned my IAC once. when i would start it warmed, it would rev up to around 2,300 rpm and i would have to shift it into gear hard.
about time to do it again.
