Default 96 Grand Cherokee V8, 5.2 won't start

my 96 V8 5.2L Grand Cherokee won't start. On turning the ignition switch to run nothing happens, no indications of power on the dash panel. The battery and fuses are good. There is no power at pin 7 (ignition feed) of the ignition switch connector.
Any ideas what could cause this?

Thanks in advance,
Slaps.

is there a fuseable link on the alternator? Maybe that has blown. also many causes can be linked to bad connections, check all of your grounds and connections at the battery and main fuse block, see if you have power at the main fuse block coming from the battery.

Thanks tsconver. I'll check around the alternator, but the electrical diagrams don't show a fusible link. They just say from fuse x in the power control center.
There is power at the main fuse block and at both sides of the ignition fuse, but not at the ignition switch.
I was wondering whether there may be a connector somewhere between the fuse and the switch, it may have popped.
If all else fails, I'll jump straight from the fuse to the switch connector, I tried that as a temporary solution and it worked.
