95 laredo transmission problems...
ok so me and a buddy went in together to buy this jeep that needed work, fix it, then resell it. its a 95 zj laredo, 4.0, auto, with np231 with 246,000miles. we got it for $375. it seems to be stuck in 1st gear. no check engine codes and it will stay in first even if we try to shift it manually. we changed the TPS and still nothing. we have a tranny out of a 2wd that "supposedly" is the same but idk. id like to fix the one already in there and save the extra tranny for my green monster (the green monster slips pretty bad). how do we solve the shifting issue? i was told that it might be in the PCM (yikes!) but since it wont go out of 1st even shifting it manually, i am thinking a valve in the valvebody might be plugged.

I'm having what sounds to be the exact same issue with pretty much the same miles(242k) and same model.
I pulled the TCS/SRS fuse in the fuse block under the hood and now it seems to let me shift manually.
Maybe it will work for you. Let me know if you figure it out!
