94 zj trans problem

Default 94 zj trans problem

Have a 94 zj 5.2 when I first start it I can shift into gear R N D 2 1 but I let it sit for a min then shift it won't go in gear like as the fluid gets warm it doesn't want to go in gear
Any help would be awsome

First step, check fluid lvl and condition, should be red, and not smell burnt. You need to check while running, and in park or netural, forget which one.

Fluid level is dead on has brand new fluid just did a trans flush

forward/direct clutches are burnt. I bet if you drop the pan thee will be a lot of metal and clutch material. any codes? It probably had a bad governor pressor solenoid and was driven in limp mode and burned it up.

Ct u are absolutly correct I pulled the front drum out today and the snapring srung out cause the steels were so warped. So in the process of a rebuild. Thanks for the input

no problem. if you have any problems pm me. I build chrysler autos for diesels out of my house, (drag/sled pulling) and I managed a tranny shop for the last 3 years. always wiling to help. Dont forget to change your governor pressure sensor and solenoid and output speed sensor if you diddnt get it already
