Default 94 grand cherokee window problem

My windows on my 94 grand cherokee were intermittently working, but they finally decided to stop working all together. I changed the fuse today to no success. Anyone have any ideas on what to do? It gets really hot in S. Utah without windows or AC!

Hey S. UT. Darrin here from N.UT. If you have a test light back probe the wire to your door switches and see if you get power to the switch. If not then you might have a broken wire, if so you might have a bad switch. Also, does your other switches work?

Check the Window Control Module Switch in drivers door. Also, if it doesn't get power there is a 50 amp relay for the power windows in the PDC under the hood. Just something to check.

Hi, I got the same problem couple of years ago. The wires that command the windows all go to the driver's door, and the hose that protects them retains humidity.
Maybe your contacts in that very big round socket are rusted, or the wires ar broken, either way you get no power.
Try powering each window directly in each door's socket, and you'll see they work, but no power is coming from the main switch.

I have the same problem. I have solved one window problem by opening the conduit in the left side door jamb. Though the veh has been garaged it's whole life, the wire insulation had cracked and arcing had caused some wires to fuse together. I isolated a few of the wires and either spliced a piece in or just heat wrapped the wires to isolate them. One of the windows now works, but I have to go in to do the rest still. One blog I found said to go get a harness from the junk yard, but it will still be 15 year old wire.

To get to the wires, carefully pry back the rubber conduit on the door side.

The driver's window motor may be burnt out. After all, it does get most of the usage.

What finally solved my windows and locks problem was fixing the wiring. If you pull back the "accordion" tube of wires between the drivers door and the body, Inspect the wires for cracking. Mine were cracked and had shorted and had fused the wires all together even though the car had been garaged and well taken care of for 15 years! Seems it is a common problem (that Chrysler doesn't seem to recognize) where they used cheap wire and this happens. I've also seen the relay problem-- a small wire in the drivers side that comes off the drivers master control switch. The full solution isn't fixing just one or two wires but re-wiring the whole bundle from the door to the chassis.
