93 Grand Cherokee Start Issues
My 93 Grand Cherokee Limited will start, and then 1-2 seconds later die. I read somewhere that I need to get the ECU reset -- is this correct? Any ideas as to what could be the problem?
Thanks!
P.S. It's the 4.0L I6

Check the Auto Shut Down relay. There was a thread on here the other day and that was his problem. The fuel pump would prime to start then the ASD relay would shut down the fuel pump.

Thanks for the response! I swapped out relays, and it still wouldn't start.
I was looking around on the forum here, and came across this post: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f5/93-...t-start-38161/
This is the post I found most interesting:
On my '93, the tailgate won't open, I can't even get the key to turn in the lock on it. So I'm thinking that might be it.

There is one thing you can try. Don't laugh because this was an issue for 93-95 GC. The rear tailgate latch completes the circuit for the vehicle security system and when it fails it sometimes causes the seurity system to arm, when it arms with the driver door unlocked you end up having no injector pulse and a weak spark at the coil because the ignition circuit has a voltage drop while cranking. (about 6 volts) Check to see if you have a good blue spark from the distributor cap to the plugs and using a test light you can see if you have injector pulse while cranking. If not try locking and unlocking the car from the drivers side using the key not the transponder
On my '93, the tailgate won't open, I can't even get the key to turn in the lock on it. So I'm thinking that might be it.

Also, something else I noticed about the car is that it has no fuel pressure... Could the tailgate really be messing it up like that?
