5.2 zj limited awd lift question

i,m looking to do a budget lift but i see most of the budget lifts say they wont work with awd zjs???? is that true this is what i,m looking at and will it work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/140632620615...84.m1423.l2649

that is a fancier version of the 2 in bb i had put on my 96, the spacers will work just fine and i didn't use a t-case drop, there was no need after an alignment.

awesome so this will work with and AWD not to be thick headed i just dont understand why the other budget lifts say they wont work on the awd models??

V8 AWD models almost always had CV front DS's. When you lift a vehicle, even 2", you stand a very good chance of blowing that DS into pieces. The CV shaft doesn't have the slip yoke on it to compensate for extended lengths.

the cv shaft doesnt last long once you lift it and the angle isnt straight. but U joint shafts are cheap at the JY, and I have seem 249 equipped 93-95 ZJ's with u joint front shafts there

the CV shaft has a slip yoke, or else your TC would be destroyed whenever your front suspension moved

ive had my 5.2 awd lifted 3.5 inches for two years now, ive even jumped it in the dunes, and completly flexed the front end out. my cv shaft is complety fine and no t-case drop either... but to be honest you might want to just save up more money and get a real lift kit\

no it doesnt, it has a slip yoke right in the center of the shaft like the U joint shafts do

note the slip yoke right before the CV joint, not inside it. I dont know why there is always so much confusion about how a CV shaft is set up on this site

Jordan is right, guaranteed. The "slip yoke" you see in the CV driveshaft is not a slip yoke, it's an adjustment setup, at the factory it is adjusted to the proper length and a collar nut is tightened down around a nylon bushing that locks it at a certain length. In a CV shaft the slip travel comes from the joint itself, by design it has minimal travel and that's one of the reasons they aren't ideal in a lifted Jeep.

Haha yeah, I used to think that too. Some years ago I thought the "slip yoke" on my ZJ was seized up, after searching numerous threads I read that the CV provides the travel. I didn't believe it so I went and removed the driveshaft to see for myself lol, good thing too, didn't have to fix anything.

I destroyed my CV front driveshaft the first outing I took it on after lifting it. Was on a clay hill with the front flexed out, gave it a little throttle cause the rear passenger tire was on a rock, started to spin then gained traction and hopped over the rock. Next thing I hear was a bang and lost all forward momentum. Got out and sure enough my driveshaft was in two pieces. The CV looked like shrapnel. That lift will work however.
