I have this 2004 4wd Grand Cherokee. 4wd hums and worse over 50 mph.

I went and picked up a rear ½ of a 2001 2wd transmission and the longer driveshaft to swap it out and have a dependable driver here in Florida.

Pulled out the transfer case and the extension unit.

The bolt pattern, mount support and length match well.

I hit a snag when trying to slide the donor 2wd onto the existing 4wd transmission.

It almost fits, but It hangs up about an 1” away from seating in place.

Is there a trick to seat this? Are there differences that make this impossible?
