42re p1757 no 1st gear kinda
This one has me stumped...... I've had first gen durangos so I know 42/44re really well. Anyways, 2004 4.0 wj 42re.
Started with typical gov presssure solendoid code. No first gear In D (typical sluggish symptoms etc). Replace sensor and solenoid, filter and fluid. Adjust bands to spec. No change. Figured chinesium/Amazon garbage, got better kit with tc lockout and harness etc. (Didn't do the 3/4 spring ) .
Still same thing.
Tried checking every ground and power etc..... no avail. But when disconnect power and reset ecm itll have 1st gear the first time in D and lose it after snd throw a code. If I put it into 2 then it goes into 1st gear. If in 1 it start in 2nd gear like D. I Did replace the NSS as well.
Finally got pressure tester and hooked to Port. At idle nothing. In gear at idle nothing. Under load in any gear (while holding brakes) no pressure. Even took gauge out and held shcrader valve open and nothing.
Ill admit the tv cable needs replacing but i still cant figure the source issue. Am i chasing an ecm issue or stuck ***** or what? Oh its my lady friends jeep not mine. I'd manually down and upshift and not care but trying to make her happy and it operate correctly
And replacerement trans isn't option, $$$$. I'll tear it out and rebuild it it and do the labor, that's fine by me but I'm stumped and dunno what's the issue/how to fix it. Any insight is appreciated in advance.

It started with the Over Tran Temp and OD dash lights on at start up( not normally displayed). early November 2024. Lights Would go on then off after 1 mile or so. Then stay on. Eventually total nightmare with cold start up in 1st or 3rd gear and never shift out. Codes 1762 and 1763 were the frequent codes.
With the help of all of you, knew it was gov press sensor and the connected transducer. While I was in this deep swapped the output shaft solenoid and obviously the fluid and filter(had just changed fluid and filter at 185K). I am the orig owner and meticulously changed trans fluid every 30k +/-.
After swap out all parts in trans. voilà.
With the video guidance from Cambridge Transmission (YouTube) and Rosta parts from Maxxinustries at Ebay, $109, all issues resolved and shifting superior on an already great transmission. Again, thank to all.
