my 2000 wj is starting to make a bit of noise, sounds like a lifter. what is the recommended maintanence cylce for adjusting those? i've never adjusted them, and i've put about 8k on the clock since i've owned it. the current mileage is only 126k. also, does anybody have a decent adjustment write up?

There is no adjustment for your valves/rocker arms other than torquing them down to spec. which is 21 ft. lbs for the rocker arm bolts.

is there any good way to quiet them down? my truck hasn't been ridden hard, i'm just wondering why i'm getting so much noise. it started right after my last oil change. i flushed the motor with gunk motor flush and filled it up with 6 quarts of 10w-30 valvoline syn-blend high mileage. my dad likes to tease me and says that the engine sludge was keeping the lifter quiet in the first place...ugh

You've probably just got a couple of lifters that are sticking now. I'd drive it a while then throw a little tranny fluid in there to clean it out and drive it for about 20 miles then change the oil & filter again. JMO
