249 Transfer case swap

249 Transfer case swap
I have a 95 limited 5.2 with a 249. I found a doner transfercase in a 97 limited with selectrac and a 5.2 also.
Can I use this TC without many mods/ Should I also take the tranny out? I can get them bothe for 300.
I think I need to swap the input shaft is this always the case.

Engine: 4.0 with all of the noise and clatter
You need to count the transfercase input shaft spline count and length, it both of those things are the same as the old 249 case it's just a bolt in swap as far as I know.
