2015 Grand Cherokee - need to change transmission and pan?
Hi - I have a 2015 JGC with 40k. Oil change people said I need transmission fluid changed. Took it to a transmission specialist and they need to order a part for the transmission pan/cover/gasket which is all one piece. Said they have to replace that part if they change the fluid. They quoted me 600.00 for the service. Seemed high. It runs fine - they test drove it. Do I need the transmission fluid changed? If it is changed is a new pan cover/gasket part required? I use the Jeep for light duty driving and long distance commuting. It has 4 AWD, a tow package - never used - and an 8 spd transmission. I've changed the oil regularly but no other service. Purchased last day of 2015

Best case would be to ask at your dealer's parts counter. If you ask the service department, they will tell you to bring it in for service and rape your wallet. So much has changed lately, I couldn't tell you what the procedures are for jeeps today. Some brands of cars now have sealed transmission that supposedly don't need service, but that scares me!
I once worked for Valvoline Instant Oil Change and at that time services were done properly, but things have changed so much recently that I wouldn't trust ANY fast change place! When I worked there, we were even "torquing" aluminum oil pan drain plugs!
