2005 grand cherokee blower resistor
Had this resistor replaced about 6-8 months ago and now it's going bad again. The man that replaced it said all connections were good and all should be OK. Is there something else I should have checked? Does anybody else have this problem recurring? Could it be that the parts store item wasn't as good as OEM item? All replies appreciated and thanks again to all who helped me with the original problem last summer!!! Luv this forum. Very informative.

Goodmonring-
Not a tech advisory panel by any means however I do have some experience with these resistors going bad. In my case my blower fan is just fine. It seems like they all like to overheat and melt. Another ingenious design by the Chrysler engineering team... Mine was burned out at the plug in my 02 WJ Overlander with the 2 sided Auto feature... Failing on off etc. Replaced the resistor with another new one (you now have to purchase the wiring adapter kit too) for whatever reason?
But its been OK for a couple months now. Just a matter of time but I'm almost certain it will overheat and burn up again.
Just why I'm not certain ??
Perhaps someone with more knowledge can chime in and advise. Good luck mo.

Old fart with a wrench
It's my thought that the blower motor is drawing too many amps and burning out the resistor. Replace the blower motor and that should solve the problem. The only other thing it could be is a broken blend door blocking the fan's discharge and causing it to overwork.
